Man Who Approached Young Children is Innocent

A man handed himself into the police after asking young children if they wanted a ride home. The police said it was all a misunderstanding.
Schools and parents in Rodney were on high alert because twice a man had tried to give some girls a ride home in the northern parts of Auckland.
The first time, while a nine year old girl was standing by Red Beach School , a man approached her and offered her a lift home. The second time a man came up to two 13 year old girls also offering to give them a ride home.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brett Batty, of Rodney CIB, said that a man had turned up at Orewa Police Station. After hearing reports on the radio about the 'ride home' accident the man had felt very embarrassed. After he had been interviewed the police found out he had no criminal intent.
He realized that his actions could be seriously misjudged and he thought that the girls did the right thing not to accept his ride.
No further complaints or reports of  approaches to children have been received so the man now knows that it's not good.

Ski Instructor is found Dead

A ski instructor was missing for more than two days before his body was found at Whakapapa ski field on the 14th of October, 2012.

His name was Elias Hofer, a 25-year-old Italian ski instructor who was working for Ruapehu Alpine Lifts.
Ruapehu area commander inspector, Steve Mastrovich, said Elias Hofer was last seen heading off towards the Pinnacles to go skiing by himself on Thursday afternoon.
“His disappearance was not noticed until midday Saturday when staff saw his ski boots, poles and skis were not in his locker.” Steve Mastrovich said.
A foot search with police and Ruapehu Alpine Rescue staff was launched on Saturday but they didn’t have any success.
On Sunday a helicopter search and rescue party found Elias Hofer's body near the head of the Wairere Stream on the east side of the Pinnacles in the late afternoon.
His body was recovered and has been transferred to Waikato Hospital for an autopsy.

Rotorua, how much fun
Us kids said as we started to run
The car was packed we were ready to go
Off to the STINKY mud pools oh no!

When we arrived we saw the huge place
The Rydge's they called it
"Hey! Come grab your suitcase."

Up the lift to room 319
Into the room, "Hey that beds mine!"
"What should we do?' Dad said excitedly
"I don't know. Don't ask me!!!"
Dad said "lets got to the luge."
OKAY, We agreed. "We'll be there soon."

Grab the helmets grab a ride
Down the track, many people passed by my side.
At the bottom, the luge isn't for me
Up the chairlift, yipee!

Ella, Mum and Dan go another time
This time a HUGE line.
We go down the gondola eating ice cream
As we go down we hear a scream.

The sky swing swoops and soars
So thats where the scream came. Of course.

Domino's pizza, Yummy yummy.
After that I have a full tummy.
Go to sleep at half past eight
Oh no! Better get up it's getting late.

We are going to rainbow springs.
Going to see kiwis and lots of other things
First of all we see the trout
Swimming there and about.
Next we see the kiwi pecking around
Finding wriggly worms in the ground
We go on a ride called the BIG SPLASH
Tells you history in a flash.
Playing on the playground is lots of fun
After a while we are done.
Watching the bird show is cool
The sun shining ready to get home to the pool.
Soon we have to go home
We'll come back at night to see the kiwis out of their dome.

For dinner we go to the Kurious Kiwi restaurant
Ummm... I want..........
We go back to see the kiwis so close
I've always wanted to see them the most.

Time for bed. A big day.
"We're going home tomorrow." My parents say.

On Sunday we pack our bags and get ready to leave
Lugging our bags heave ho heave.
We stop off at the agrodome to see the farm
Lets hope the weather stays calm.
seeing the sheep show is so cool
I even get to keep some wool.
I got to go on stage and feed the baby sheep
They were so cute. The one I fed I wanted to keep.
We went on a tour ride on the tractor
A cow stood right in front of us
We nearly smacked 'er.

Next we went home in the car
Picked our dog, Meg, up
Barking about her holidays
Blah Blah Blah.
Meg's running around the house
Having a peek
The best part of all
THERE'S STILL ANOTHER WEEK!!!

Book Review

Holes
By Louis Sachar

Holes is about a boy named Stanley who supposedly stole a pair of a famous baseball players, Clide Livingston's, shoes. He gets sent to a camp called Camp Green Lake where all Stanley, his group and the and other groups have to dig holes.

The book swaps between when Camp Green Lake was first discoverd and what is happening now.

The main characters are Stanley, Zero, Stanleys group, the warden, Mr. Pendanzki, Stanley's Mum and Dad, Kate Barlow, Stanley's no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather, Sam the Onion man and Mary Lou.

I rate this book 4 and a half stars.
